Okay, I'm not trying to be obtuse, but again I ask, popped out of the potential? What is that? Or if this universe is one partical in a larger one my question stands, why is there anything rather than nothing, this "stuff" for want of a better word had to come from somewhere, or not? Does it make sense to say that everything just always was?

So just WHO made this universe?
by onacruse inin the christian theology, "god" is the creator.
but many scriptures intimate that jesus was, at the very least, the "maker.
" there are 2 distinctly different greek words used in the bible to describe the activities of these two beings; a distinction that the wts (along with many other non-trinitological belief systems) has made.. i'd rather not argue about the meaning of these two words, as they are very clear, and hardly worth (imho) wasting the bandwidth on yet further etymological dissertations.. i recently suggested that i could see jesus as tinkering with dna, and god giving him helpful suggestions along the way.

Should our universe be destroyed another universe will instantaneously and spontaneously emerge to replace it.
Emerge from what? How can something, come from nothing? Why is it no problem for many to imagine the universe always just was, but not a god?
That's what always bothers me, if god made the universe, who made god? Okay, if god didn't make the universe, then who made the universe, oh, it just always was, doesn't sound like a much better arguement than the one for god.

I just got fooled by a fake Paypal email
by DanTheMan ini just got an email that stated that another email address had been authorized to my paypal account, and that if this was not correct, to click the link below.. so (big mistake) i clicked the link.
i get a phony but convincing looking "paypal" page saying that the page had been removed, and to click the link below to go to the home page.. so i clicked that linkwww.paypal.com/someotherstuff, so i think i'm good to go here.
i log in, and then it takes me to a page where i am asked to give my credit card number as a "security measure".

I hate that stuff worse than anything. Everyday I get bombarded by all this official looking spam, from banks, credit card companies, etc. telling me that my account is whacked or whatever and I need to fix it. Most of the time when all I do is high light the offending spam in Outlook my virus protection tells me it just saved my butt and I didn't even open the email, just moved the cursor to it in Outlook.
I will say that the hackers, whackers and whatever that come up with these scams in lieu of working are the lowest form of sub human gristle, lower than toile bugs, lower than anything I can think of, 15 minutes alone with one of these creeps would make my year.

Texas says, "Not in our state"
by Jourles inhttp://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20051109/pl_nm/marriage_gays_dc
was it ever a question of if?
it was a matter of how many were going to vote against it.. side note: did anyone catch the south park episode where mr. garrison riles up the city to vote against gay marriage?

I don't think its any great surprise, with the huge baby boomer population being the most active at the polls. They grew up with very different ideas on morality, sexuality, and race than younger people have today, I don't see this sort of thing changing until the Gen X'ers are the majority.

black, black coffee
by tetrapod.sapien inwhat is it with people who live life like they bought it at a store?
like they know exactly how it is supposed to work, and they live like it too?
like it's so simple.

Made me think of Squeeze's "Black Coffee in Bed"
There’s a stain on my notebook
Where your coffee cup was
And there’s ash in the pages
Now I’ve got myself lost
I was writing to tell you
That my feelings tonight
Are a stain on my notebook
That rings your goodbye
With the way that you left me
I can hardly contain
The hurt and the anger
And the joy of the pain
Now knowing I am single
They’ll be fire in my eyes
And a stain on my notebook
For a new love tonight
From the lips without passion
To the lips with a kiss
There’s nothing of your love
That I’ll ever miss
The stain on my notebook
Remain all that’s left
Of the memory of late nights
And coffee in bed
Now she’s gone
And I’m back on the beat
A stain on my notebook
Says nothing to me
Now she’s gone
And I’m out with a friend
With lips full of passion
And coffee in bed -

i hear all prayers, and answer all prayers.
i will try to fulfill those within my powers, but i will be honest with you homo sapiens and say that i will not be able to fulfill all of them.

Oh mighty Tetragod, I humbly offer this goat on my hibachi in hopes of currying your favor. Please, please, please don't let USC win the national championship, bestow your bountiful blessings my beloved Ohio State Buckeyes instead.

How Did Watching Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ" Make You Feel?

for those of you who watched it, how did it make you feel?

It was always my understanding that part of the reason Christ's suffering was so profound was because he didn't have to do it (this of course going on the premise that he is the son of God), the he could have avoided all of it yet chose to do it out of love for humanity. So we have a creature that agrees to take on a far inferior form and suffer for the sins of others as he was without sin (this again all going on the premise that it actually happened as portrayed in the Bible) seems pretty remarkable. I wonder how many humans would be willing to do that sort of thing.

Dont be so hard on satan
by gringojj ini think people forget that satan was a creation of god, just like all of us and everything else.
obviously god had a purpose in creating satan.
god has love for everyone and everything, including satan.

As Mr. Jagger says:
So if you meet me
Have some courtesy
Have some sympathy, and some taste
Use all your well-learned politesse
Or I’ll lay your soul to waste, um yeah
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, um yeah -

Ten Rules for Dating My Daughter
by Big Dog ini thought this was funny, pretty much sums up my attitude.. ten rules for dating my daughter!.
rule one: if you pull into my driveway and honk you'd better be delivering a package, because you're sure not picking anything up.
rule two: you do not touch my daughter in front of me.
